TL;DR: The latest TikTok trends for 2026 are Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance, editing content like a reality show, Werner Herzog’s nihilistic penguin, and the Year of the Horse.

Another month, another absolutely wild time online. Join Epidemic Sound’s community managers, Madie Hooker and Leo Lukic, as they break down four of the latest TikTok trends.

Trend 1: Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl half-time show was a celebration. The almost completely Spanish-language set filled the field with the best vibes, thanks in no small part to the music itself. It made people move.

At the time of writing, the Puerto Rican rapper has the third-most monthly listeners on Spotify. He’s one of the biggest artists on the planet, and this moment will shape online culture and content going forward. If you want to use music with a Bad Bunny-style, reggaeton feel, try Quiere Que Le De by Ratchetón.

Trend 2: Editing content like a reality show

Reality shows have shaken viewers to the core for decades, and are now more accessible and bingeable than ever. The intros and trailers are an art form in their own right, so it’s only fair that TikTok gives them a unique spin.

This trend can be traced back to late 2025, when a producer from Bar Rescue mixed business with pleasure by editing their family vacation like a reality show. Cut to February 2026, and it’s a TikTok video format.

Fade from black. Fade to black. The music swelling, the tension building, subdrops going off like tripwires. Paired with footage of vacations, daily commutes, and office chit-chat, it’s hilarious. Give your content that high-stakes reality sheen with Fredrik Ekström’s Invasion 2.

Trend 3: Werner Herzog’s nihilistic penguin

Werner Herzog is one of the most critically acclaimed movie directors alive. More recently, he’s been embraced by the TikTok community for his dramatic nature documentaries — in particular, 2007’s Encounters at the End of the World. But why?

The film features a penguin who keeps running away from the colony. There’s no reason for the penguin’s actions. It’s pure nihilism. Herzog’s narration received the meme treatment, and has since been picked up by brands who’ve given the penguin a reason to abandon its home.

Trend 4: Giddy up! It’s the Year of the Horse

Lunar New Year just kicked in, and we’re shedding the Year of the Snake. Now we’re trotting, we’re cantering, we’re galloping into the Year of the Horse. According to Hong Kong-based feng shui consultant Thierry Chow, “Horses will be the protagonists of 2026, as big changes are coming for them.”

That mindset’s now all over TikTok. The Year of the Horse has taken on a wide-eyed, almost hopecore-adjacent energy, giving users the chance to really express themselves on main/mane.

If you’re looking for something vibrant to soundtrack your Year of the Horse content, Yi Nantiro’s Lotus Warrior is pretty much perfect.
